The new map – called Where to Care – can be accessed online or through a data-free link that shows whoever opens it which services are available near them, and when.

The project—a partnership between Bhekisisa and the nonprofit Triad Trust—has been able to map services in 6 of the country’s 9 provinces.

Data capturers have spent two years phoning facilities, but after 23,000 calls have fully tracked only six provinces because there is no updated list of telephone numbers.

Bhekisisa has partnered with the HIV non-profit TRIAD Trust and the Hivos Southern Africa Fund to compile a reliable database of family planning services in South Africa.
